Lyca Mobile Speed Test 2026: 350 Mbps on 4G and 5G in East London
We ran a Lyca Mobile speed test at 1pm on a Wednesday in East London using fast.com, powered by Netflix’s servers. The result: 350 Mbps download — twice, under different conditions.
What makes this interesting isn’t just the headline number. It’s the context:
- The 4G test was done indoors
- The phone was being used as a hotspot, sharing the connection with a MacBook
- Despite that extra load, it still hit 350 Mbps
- Then we switched to 5G at the same location. Same result: 350 Mbps.
That’s a consistent ceiling being hit across both signal types, in a real-world setting — not a clean outdoor single-device test.
Lyca Mobile Speed Test 1: 4G Indoors, Hotspot Active
Here’s what the full 4G Lyca Mobile speed test showed:
- Download: 350 Mbps
- Upload: 58 Mbps
- Unloaded latency: 24 ms
- Loaded latency: 124 ms
- Client: London, GB — BT (EE’s parent company, confirming the EE network)
- Servers: London, GB and Slough, GB
- Data used: 280 MB down / 80 MB up
The higher loaded latency (124 ms vs 24 ms unloaded) is expected when the connection is under full download stress. And remember — this was sharing bandwidth with a MacBook over hotspot at the same time. Still entirely usable for anything you’d actually do day-to-day.
Lyca Mobile Speed Test 2: 5G, Same Location
- Download: 350 Mbps
- Upload: 15 Mbps
- Unloaded latency: 26 ms
- Loaded latency: 54 ms
- Client: London, GB — BT
- Server: London, GB
- Data used: 510 MB down / 20 MB up
The loaded latency on 5G was dramatically better — 54 ms compared to 124 ms on 4G. That’s the real-world 5G advantage: not necessarily faster peak speeds (both hit 350 Mbps), but a more responsive connection under load. Better for gaming, video calls, and anything latency-sensitive.
Upload was lower on 5G in this test (15 Mbps vs 58 Mbps on 4G). That’s normal — it depends on which tower and band your phone connected to at that moment. Upload speeds vary more than download in real-world 5G testing.
What These Lyca Mobile Speed Test Results Actually Mean
Both 4G and 5G hit 350 Mbps in East London. Both were on EE — Lyca Mobile’s underlying network, and the UK’s largest by coverage.
Lyca Mobile is an MVNO (mobile virtual network operator). It leases capacity from EE rather than running its own towers, which is how it can offer EE’s signal at a lower price point. According to Ofcom’s mobile data, EE leads the UK on 4G availability — and this test reflects that. These results were recorded at lunchtime on a Wednesday in East London, one of the busiest mobile environments in the country. The speeds held up.

If you’re not upgrading your handset, a SIM-only plan is usually the smarter financial move. No device repayment baked into the bill, and far more flexibility to switch.
